Yeah, I know. The more and more I think about it, I should just rebuild it to stock specs and leave it at that so I have more money for my turbo build on my mustang.
As for the blower, I'm sure one day I'll find a build for it...
Heh Heh....maybe I'll drop you a line in a few years...I get the feeling my daily driver might go from stock, to mild, to not so mild....guess I'll have to see if you've still got the blower then...said it was for a 5.0 right?OOOOOOO the thoughts......I'm rebuildin the motor I got now to stock specs except for a cam intake and flat top pistons..but everything else will have standard bores and so on......
The tranny is fine. The engine seems to be leaking oil from the oil pan and rear main seal. I'll probably just buy a rebuild kit from work and leave it at stock specs.
The previous owner put some sort of chip in it, maybe a Jet or something, and I think that is causing it to run rough/bad. I might see if I can find a used ecu for cheap and replace it and see if it helps. The ecu's at my work are unprogrammed. Where would I go to get the stock program for it?
Try pulling the chip out and see how it runs. Dirty contacts can cause the motor to run rough. I think 400hp at the crank is doable with heads, cam, headers/exhaust and 7 psi of boost. You'll need a good fuel system to support that kind of power though. To keep the rear end from bouncing and having traction issues, you'll want to invest in a set of traction bars and a good limited slip differential; Eaton makes an LSD that is solid and can be rebuilt.
A higher stall converter will really help get that thing moving out of the hole as well. The 3.55's and stock converter will be working against at the line.
In the end, it really depends on how far you're looking to and what you're able to spend.
