I have a buddy who drives big trucks, and back in 2000 he bought a new 250 PSD 6spd. The only problem was he still Drove it like a big truck. He would just let off the clutch and luggit bad. I am not sure if thats how you drive a semi or not, but you can't drive a pickup like that. He bent the input shaft, and ended up selling it after going thru a clutch in 70,000 miles or so, and not wanting to mess with it. I think I am gonna give BTS a call and see what the 6spd change over would run so when my auto ies maybe I'll do it.
Yeah see Im all about swappin autos out for manuals but to go from manual to auto is mind numbing to me. I could see if you had medical reasons and needed to do it but i personally think this guy dosnt know how to drive a stick and thats why he's going thru them left and right.
I'm thinking of doing a swap from auto to manual, when the time comes.
What is the cost of a manual over an auto?
What other major cost may ther be that im not concidering?
And finnally.I'm more than fairly experienced in auto work,But still not a pro. What kind of problems would I encounter?

Excuse me, I know how to drive a stick!! Did you read my post? Maybe you should read it again with both eyes open. The reason I ordered the truck with a manual is because they are supposed to be more reliable than a auto. So far mine has been a piece of crap. Before I decide on the swap I want to do research on the idea. I know it can be done and I am guessing that it will cost around $7500. My next step is to take it back to the dealer again to see the condition of the pressure plate. I will let you know what happens.
If your lookin for info on the auto to manual swap Dryfly I would consult Brian at BTS. He would be able to speak wisely on whats recquired to do the swap and what the benefits are. Good luck
Update.....The dealership said today that the first trans failure was from lack of tans oil from the factory. There were no leaks found when the trans was taken out, gaskets were in good shape from what they could tell anyway, and there was only 2 quarts of oil in the trans. As far as the second trans goes, the hard shifting was caused by the pressure plate never being replaced according to Ford's direction. The pilot bearing was was twisted from the shock when the main shaft broke. Now that my trans shifts like it is supposed to I will keep the stick.
I would usually buy a stick because the wife doesn't know how to drive one, but she's just as scared of a crew cab, long bed so the automatic was OK for the F350.
