Manual or Automatic Hubs?

Hey, I was just curious to see how manual hubs rate vs automatic. Personally I would prefer manual.

No question about it, MANUAL is the only way to go.

Auto hubs never work when you need them to

They both suck. Where's the option for drive flanges?

Auto hubs are notorious for problems. That's why so many people are so quick to replace them with manual hubs.

manual no questions. my dad has a ranger with a broken auto hub cracked a piece right in half. love my manual warn hubs. less wear plus if you really want you can run a spool up front for off roading and still use it as a daily driver.

You do know that when you really get stuck and need all 4 wheels driving one of those front hubs wont lock leaving you with just rear wheel drive....right?

Don't take him seriously Dave, he's hinting just a little sarcasm in that post. It just doesn't come across on the internet to those who don't know Fishy.

Thats right, auto is the only way to go, ohwait a minute I thought we were talking about types of actions on guns. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824BXUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/14/14_6_2.gif' alt='Automatic Weapon' border=0></a> <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm824BXUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/14/14_6_12.gif' alt='Chain Gun' border=0></a>

But the best way to go so you can be lazy is drive flanges, heck I don't even have a shift lever on my tcase never have to worry about even shifting it into 4x4.

My 1997 Ranger was the first and only truck I had with auto hubs and I deeply regretted that fact the first time I went up an icy hill, had them fail 1/2 way up, and slid all the way back down and was stuck at the bottom of the hill in a rut.

The part in the owner's manual that states "not for farm use" really should state "not for off-road use at all".
