My Driver side pipe has a small indentation, but nothing close to what was in the picture. As for replacing the pipes, to be honest, if you are even remotely in the back of your mind considering transmission work, then wait until you pull the transmission. In fact, it would be worth making an excuse to replace the OEM TC just to pull the trans to get to the Up-pipes. It will make the job about 450% easier. However, for a shadetree who has never removed the turbo, Strokin is right on, you are looking at a good all day affair.
And if your FN74, just pull the whole engine to replace the up pipes. By now you can probably pull it and reinstall it in less than half a day.
I noticed the compressor too, and was worried as well. Maybe, heck they painted it...?
The pipes can be bought locally from the Intenational dealer, or through BlackWidow Diesel. I'd say for someone who hasnt done this before, or at leasnt hasn't taken the turbo off, it would be an all-day affair. I spent two evenings on mine, simply because i knew the turbo would be here the second day, i got the old turbo out, the pipes off and ready for the new ones.
So, to do the up pipes on the trucks, the turbo has to come out?
