'73 360 carb problems
I've a '73 F250 w/ 360 2bbl 4spd.
After having rebiult the carb on this 360, ( I just bought it and I just had to Smack it up and now, even when the system is warmed to operating temp, I've git a "dead-spot" in the carb.
Runs fine @ idle, but when just a little throttle is applied, (not jammed on, very slowly and smoothly) the truck will actually start coughing and uf you keep it at this "magic little range of throttle" it will even start to sound like it's trying to backfire.
If throttle is pushed beyond this spot, it runs fine, if you jam down on the gas pedal from idle, it seems to skip this spot and runs fine...
any suggestions?
--If it ain't broken, smack it up anyways--

My truck ('64 f-250), and my car ('77 Merc. Monarch) both did this...On my truck I rebuilt the carb, and the spot was still there. On the throttle linkage, where it joins the carb there should be several holes for adjusting the linkage to the accelerator pump, and there should also be some adjustment holes on the accelerator pump as well. What I did was adjust it so that the accelerator pump operates across a wider range.
If that makes sense to you, then you must know what I'm talking about. If not, post again and I'll clarify for ya'.

Yea, I know exactly what you're talking about, except, I've done that just this very evening, plus, before I rebuilt the carb, it worked fine, no dead spot The accelerator pump is adjusted so that it is at it's maximum "throw" if you know what I'm sayin, so, come tomorrow I'm going to adjust it down a little, and then some more, and if that dosen't work, I guess I'm gonna hafta hunt down the old parts I threw away or look at rebuilding it yet again
