yes, thanks, is the eye bolt on the spare tire carrier on a 95 f150 2 wheel drive supposed to be tighetend, i just bought this truck and am putting the spare back on, there is no center retainer or anything because of the rear gas tank, and i cant get the eye bolt to spin inside the j nut to hold the tire tight to the tank. i sprayed it with wd40 and some aero kroil, but to no avail, i really dont want to put heat to it, because of the close proximity to the rear tank.
Yeah, it should tighten up. I believe it just screws into a clip, maybe you can cut the clip in half and then remove the eye bolt that way so you can service it? You would then need a replacement clip, tho.
A few years earlier the spare sat in a cradle which is lifted up to the eyebolt. There is a slot in the cradle the eyebolt goes through and then you tighten it snug. The eyebolt itsle doesnt hold the tire, it holds the cradle which holds the tire. Im not sure on the 95, but thought Id mention it just in case its simliar. Also make sure the eyebolt is sitting on the raised notch in the cradles slot, not in the slot it passes through.

yea in that diagram i dont have that center peice, so i just tightend the eye bolt up alot, and the tires kinda clamped in there, i also put some wire on it three diffrent directions so it definatley aint goin anywhere.
