351m?

I have a 1976 f-150 4x4, the truck org. had a 360. some where along it's life they took out the 360 a put in a 351m. they had to do some mods i guess, like change the stands and bell housing. but why does the engine sit so far back? is this because the engine is shorter or a shorter bell housing? i mean there is about a 5 in. gap from the redi. to the fan and thats with the standard fan spacer. will the 360 sit closer to the radi.?

My guess is they didn't change the stands. A 360 is an inch different than the 351m in location when using the wrong perches. Or they put it in the wrong set of holes.
