Have a 93 351 with a auto. Need more h.p. for trailer pulling. Where is a good place to start and what is a good plan of action. Would prefer bolt on help. Thanks.
Well, the road to supreme performance is paved with busted knuckles, and empty wallets, so prepare. The best, easiest performance mods are: intake/carb, headers and cam. If you go with a big change in the cam, then be prepared for a valve/head job.
It can get expensive, but do the mods one at a time, don't get in a hurry, and it should work out.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
I would look into computer chips or a vorteck super charger! I think it would be less work and won't change the fuel consumption as much. The gas prices are not getting any better! You can change the computer chip for probably under $300.oo A lot less work and less money for the increase in power. Look at other messages on the forum. There is good info that pertains to your needs.
Good luck
Do some research on which exhaust systems offer a boost in low end performance. Cat-Back systems and headers. That ol 351 can be a dog when pulling some things eh.

Them small blocks really need to breathe! A good cat-back exhaust, or even better, dual exhaust will really liven it up, even with stock manifolds. A high flow air filter will compliment the exhaust upgrade. 351Ws got some guts once you get rid of the factory restrictions.

I have a good used set of 4:10s for a 3/4 ton if your interested. Ford as always been weak in the exhaust area...either they make them too big as in the Cobra Jets or too small in most of their production engines. Figure around $700.-$900. for headers with new dual exhaust system if you job it out. I wouldn't do the intake side till you've done the exhaust. Deen
