Would it be a good idea to clean the maf on my '99.5 7.3? Do you clean them like any other cars?
Unplug batteries, Clean maf with the crc maf cleaner spray i have, let dry for a minute, while making sure the inside isnt touched, install back on, then hookup the batteries again and let the truck sit for 10 minutes, then let it idle for 10 minutes, then go drive it around easily for 20, then get on it and see how she runs .
Yours would be the first MAF equipped 7.3 that I have seen..If you are talking the ambient temp sensor, i have never cleaned one yet, but IPA could be used on it..
Otherwise, yeah, cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor is a GREAT idea for anything with any kind of mileage on it (or one of those oil-type air filters). Sometimes it fixes driveability issues too.....just not on a 7.3.
Um... it's a diesel engine. It doesn't really need to know the volume of air going in the engine, that is what the MAF is for, right? It uses a Manifold Air Pressure sensor (MAP) to detect boost pressure and adjust fueling accordingly.
