My truck starts and runs fine cold. after 10 minutes or so of driving, it starts choking and stalls. If you try to start it, it will not. If you wait about 3 minutes, it is fine, starts , and drives ok, for about 3 minutes.
I have replaced, plugs, fuel filter, battery, and a ignition module, as well as cleaned the opening of the throttle body
Ford has ordered a fuel pump which will cost me about $1000 installed.
I am thinking it could be the
-Throttle position Sensor?
-MAF sensor?
-fuel pump?
It puts out code p0191 for low fuel pressure.
Ford is scheduled to install new pump in am, but I don't want to spend a grand if it is just the TPS or MAf?
Do you know if the dealership checked fuel pressure at the fuel rail and confirmed it is low? Which engine does your 2007 Sport Trac have? If it has a Fuel Pump Module, did they check the condition of that to make sure it's not showing signs of damage?
A different Ford dealer did. They said they monitored it during test drive and all was fine.Of course during their test ride, everything went smooth with no stalls...
It is a 4.6
I'm not sure but either the ignition module or fuel pump module was changed about 3 months ago
Since your 2007 V8 Sport Trac has CoP ignition, it would not have been the ignition module that was replaced. That function is internal to the PCM on your truck.
Your truck does have a fuel pump driver module though which could also been the cause of the P0191 diagnostic code. If the dealership that has checked out the truck was not able to confirm low fuel pressure, changing out the fuel pump at this point is kind of a shotgun approach. If it doesn't fix the issue, then they'll likely say the issue almost certainly is either the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor of the Fuel Pump Driver Module.
If shotgunning is the approach you opt to go for, I'd start with the least expensive option, the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor. The FRP sensor is the sensor that determines whether or not the P0191 is triggered.
The FRP sensor should be quite a bit easier than a fuel pump to install. I'm not intimately familiar with exactly where it's located on your 2007 though.
At the last Ford Stealership they monitored fuel pressure, and it was all good. However they did not drive it long enough to stall.
Of course now, the new dealership has to plug it back in as well for the codes, even though I have a code reader, and already had the last dealer pull the codes.
