Im getting a new f450 at work and am wondering what motor it has. If anyone can give me a build sheet that would be even better the vin number is 1FD4F46Y98EB02007 Thanks Aaron
8th digit is the engine code, its definately not a 6.4L but I was not aware that they offered the 450 in anything other. It is definately a 2008 Model though going by the 10th digit.

Cab and chasis trucks come standard with the v10. I think you can even get a 5.4 if you really want it. And of course the 6.4 is an option. Also, you can get up to a 5.32 axle ratio. I bet thats fun on the freeway!
They shouldn offer a 450 in anything other a Diesel in my opinion. A 450 is for Heavy Duty Pulling and Use and the gasser just isn't gonna get the job done.
I have noticed here in danville, va that a lot of the city trucks like bucket trucks and such are 08 450 gassers. It doesnt make much since, but everyone has their own tastes. It just gives you another reason why ford is the top dog when it comes to trucks and the options you are able to choose from. The 4500 GMC's and Chevy's only offer the Duramax. They got a foot in the door b/c every other truck this city uses is a chevy so the gassers in the 450 work models got them a foot in the door of a chevy stronghold.

While a gasser in a 450 or 550 may not be for you and I, I can see a use for it. Some of these trucks never tow anything, and are outfitted with service bodies or crane bodies. A truck that spends it's life driving around the city from light pole to light pole to change bulbs would probably not need to be a diesel. Remember, a business or a municipality does not use the "because I want a diesel" argument that some of us do. One of the things I like about Ford is, they give you a lot of options. Even though some of the combinations they require to get those options is .
I workfor at&t and all our buckets trucks are f450 gas all the way back to 96, I think they would off set cost by going with diesel with extended life and fuel mileage, but no one asks my opinion. Thanks for the info on the truck to all who has responded,Aaron
