I'm getting a squeeking noise coming from what seems to be the passenger side front of my truck. I notice it when going over bumps (even slight ones),and turning left,at about 40mph getting on an on ramp to the freeway, etc. I have new ball joints, front axle u-joints,and fairly new shocks. I greased all the fittings but still get the squeek. I also have a new 4" exhaust. I checked everything to see if it was tight and to check for any metal to metal contact but everything seems ok. Is it possibly the wheelbearing? I had them off to replace the u-joints,and they seemed to be fine, turning freely,no looseness, etc. Is there anything else I should check? I sprayed some WD-40 on the springs, frame and front end,but still the squeek! The truck is a 2002 F-350SD with 103k. Thanks for any advice.
My first thought would be the front springs - the isolator pads between the springs have been known to make noise (mine did). I used lithium grease - got the weight of the truck off the springs with a jack, and then pry the springs apart and get the lube right in between the springs. That's the only way I got mine to stop.
Also I had a squeek that turned out to be my shocks - right at the urethane mounts. I have to hit them with wd-40 every couple weeks to keep them from squeeking.
I had a high pitch squeek for months. The slightest little bump or even closing the doors would make it squeek. The radio couldn't cover it up on a bumpy road. Sprayed all the usual spots on the underside till the driveway was a puddle of WD-40. Still didn't help. Found it yesterday. It was the hood latch of all things. I feel like I'm driving a new truck now.
