99 F250 Trailer Brake Controller Problem

I have a 99 250 with an aftermarket brake controller. I only use a trailer occasionally - a couple times a year. The last time I used the controller, the trailer brakes would only operate when I used the override lever on the controller itself. They will not work when the brake pedal is applied. Everything else (lighting) works fine. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

More details. Type of controller, settings, etc. Sounds like something is not set right to allow the brakes to work effectively

Sometimes it's a loose connection or a bad ground. Try unplugging the trailer and plugging it back in. What type of plug are you using and where is it located? I've seen corroded connections inside the plug. Also some 6-way plugs have a tendency for the pins to squeeze together where they will not get a good contact.
