I Guess I should have written prior to purchasing but I didnt. So I'll tell you what I bought. I Just ordered four 15x7 wheel vintiques smoothies with 47-48 style ford hub caps and trim rings in stainless . the wheels are bare so I can paint as desired. Anyone have anyone experience with these ?
I too am looking at this combo for my 50 F1; keep us posted as to how they fit. I have MII front and 2001 Explorer rear. What back space did you go with ?
I bought a set years ago for a 29 Ford. I ended up spending about a hundred bucks having them professionally painted chrome yellow by a shop. If I had it to do over I think I'd want them powder coated instead. What color are you going with?
I Just purchased the truck 2 months ago. it has a GM clip and 10 bolt rear. I ordered 4" back spacing. that is the same spacing as the wheels currently on the truck. The truck is far from original. by replacing the current wheels with the vintiques I will achieve more of the appearence I prefer. Next project Mustang fuel tank.
The truck is late model mustang Chrome Yellow - I plan on painting the wheels and Grill A tan color - similar to what Wheel vintiques calls Carmel -. I am trying to tame down the yellow. Painting is not a issue for me, I do so part time as a hobby.
Hmmm, chrome yellow and carmel wheels? Doesn't sound too eye popping to me. Bright red or an apple green would make it pop!
That's the problem The yellow is popping my eyes out, I'm trying to tame things down, Red wheels never - but I like your idea of green. I once had a 69 roadrunner that was sandpebble beige. It was one of my favorites cars. Friends said it looked like a old mans car. What did they know.
I had a set years ago. Quality of wheel was acceptable. Fitment no probs. Chrome was acceptable. Painting them is a little bit of a challenge as every area is at a different angle and it's easy to miss a spot. I like the idea of Powder coating.
Llok in my gallery titled wheels. The first two photos. Purchased the wheels thru Coker Tire in Chattanooga. A buddy painted them red for me. Me and the wife bought red vinyl tape from a sign shop and used the exacto type knives and filled in the letters on the caps.

I like the looks of what you did, I did not think about the letters on the hubcaps. I may try to paint them and clean up the edges with thinner.
I bought basically this exact combination, minus the trim rings. I ordered them with the powder coated primer, painted them myself. They came out good. I painted my letters in the hubcaps the color of the wheels and I really like the look. I failed to scuff all the stainless in the letters, so a few of the letters have peeled off as I've washed the car. It wasn't too bad, you just need a steady hand, a little thinner and a rag and a about an hour. Well worth it. The wheels were as advertised, my only complaint is that I could never get the time of day from the guys at wheel vintiques when I'd try and to talk to them at shows. I don't think being a 20 yr old trying to buy the chepest wheels they sold waranted their attention, but in the end price won out and they got my business.
