oil change

How hard is it too do a oil change on a 2004 Ford F-150 with a 5.4L Trition V-8 engine. I have read somewere on these forums that the oil filter is in a really stupid place. If any one has pictures on were the oil filter is located and how too do an oil change. I would appericate it if you could post them in your reply. thanks!

Look throught the lower grill, left hand side and you will see it. Not hard to remove at all. An oil change in my home garage takes about 20 minutes.

on my 5.4 the filter is on the right hand side if looking thru the lower grill...... personally i do not find it hard to get too, just hard to get the filter out without spilling some or having it drip. just put a piece of cardboard down before you start. you will spill a little..

1. Loosen oil drain plug and remove. Drain the oil from the oil pan. and tighten oil pan plug when finished.
2. Take off the old filter.
3. Place thin layer of oil on new filter. Tighten hand tight.
4. Put in 7 qts of 5w-20 oil.
5. Start and check for leaks.

It's pretty simple and can be done in about 20-30 mins. I take the time to inspect the rest of the underbody while I'm on the creeper, so I take closer to 30 minutes.

1. Take oil pan bolt out
2. Let oil drain.
3. Drink beer.
4. Once oil has drained re-install oil plug.
5. Remove old filter.
6. Install new filter with the rubber 'washer' lubed wth oil and hand tighten.
7. Put in new oil.
8. Make sure everything is tight and start car.
9. Make sure oil is at proper level.
10. Drink more beer.

You do yours the same way I do mine! Only I start with a beer before taking the bolt out.
