Bed Cap
I am a carpenter and have been spending a lot of time lately looking into purchasing a cap for my 04 FX4. I am torn between a fiberglass cap or an aluminum cap. Does anyone have any pics or any guidance they can share with me to point me in a good direction? (ie, brands, fiberglass or aluminum, etc.)

I think it was between $1100 & $1200, in September of 2004. It has a sliding window in front that also tilts open so you can clean the glass. Two people can put it on and off the truck, and it is clamped on. I have a plug for the wiring.

I have a fiberglass cap on my '05, and an aluminum cap on my '72. $1300 and $900, respectively. Fiberglass cap has tilt down front window/slider, and no carpet inside. Alum has hinged lift up side windows for side entry to bed. My gallery has pix.

If there is any chance you're thinking of putting racks on the top of the cap, I'd think the fiberglass ones are going to hold up better over time. I haven't looked at an aluminum cap in a long time but the ones my dad had were made of rinky dink materials that made it nice and light but junk as far as durability.
The Snug Top on my Ranger has held up fairly well over 12 yrs, but the clear coat is just starting to let go. Other people I know like their Leer caps.
