I know the hpop runs the injectors and requires oil . To change the oil how do you drain it and what oil do i use is the same stuff that i run in the engine? (rotella)? I do know where the fill plug is on the top is there a drain or do I like an oil extractor pump and suck it out of the pump through the fill plug at the top. I have never checked never mind changed the oil in here! I just found out the i ' m suppose too! I have do everything esle like fuel filters, oil change, belts, hoses, power steering fluid changes, tranny flushes you know the normal stuff but forgot about the hpop> Anything else i might be missing too? Thanks Kris
Well, you don't NEED to change the oil in the HPOP, as it will be cycled through and combined with new oil during an oil change, however as you may expect, this means that there will be new/old oil in the engine. Not a big deal but some like to change HPOP oil too. When I pulled my injectors, I needed to get the oil out of the HPOP. To do this i used a 60cc syringe I got form http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/01342448/ and used a piece of plastic tubing instead of the needle. then you can get all of the oil out of there. Unfortunatly there is no real easy way to get it out of there other than out that fill hole... no drain hole. Hope this helps!
yes it does thanks a lot i hear everybody checks the level and i have ye to even look at it i will drain it next oil change so everything has fresh oil in it
The supply tank on top of the HPOP is for the ones with a 95 that go to a 17 degree pump (99+). The drain back valve on the 95's were different and when you shut down the truck the HPOP would drain down. The supply tank let you prime the HPOP before start up.
here is a link to a "pump" that I made to do the job you are reffering to, I drain the HPOP every time I change oil. Let me know if you have any questions about it, if you already own a shop vac it is very inexpensive.
