using old style ignition switch :-
http://www.ctci.org/membership/Gilsgarage/IgSwWi.htm I'm using a old style ignition switch in my 86 grumman kurbmaster van. I have bypassed the colum ignition switch and have wired in a 1985 ignition system on my 1986 300 I-6 and I'm in the process of wiring the van from under the hood and dash from scratch. The problem I'm having is that when I start the van the starter keeps ingaged and only when I turn the key to the start postion. As soon as I turn off it disingages, This doesn't happen when I turn the key to the on postion. Will this ignition switch work with this ignition system? And what placement of the wirers to the switch is needed? The web link just shows what style of switch I'm using.

You can't tie some of the hot wires together on one switch terminal. You need a multipole switch like the original one was or you will get feedback from different circuits, although usually this causes the engine not to turn off. You could try putting the starter on a seperate pushbutton. You should only need the red/blue wire hooked to the pushbutton.
Is there are reason why you are trying to do this?
