2002 f-350 7.3 crew cab with 1000000 miles . On a recent trip to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Florida</st1lace></st1:State> in 95 plus heat, temp ran high 150 190 on expressway. doing 70 mph( 35 in tires and 4 inch lift) Would like to get the trans temp down a little if I can temp reading came from pillar gauges. Would it be best to install a pusher /puller fan or an additional Tran’s cooler. Do some light towing at times? 5000 lbs to 7000 lbs. Thanks in advance ,any help would be greatly appreciated ,you guys are a great help to guys like me thanks again. Mike
I would say get an aux trans cooler like a tru-cool ro around $120, or get the 6.0 cooler but they are much more expensive. Either way get a cooler the extra cooling capacity will bring those temps down !
I was seeing 180* temps in 95* heat here in Houston on the freeway. That was unloaded. Installed the Tru-Cool from DieselSite and have not seen over 150*, even when towing. Easy to install (30 minutes) and cheap at $120.
I'm going to assume you don't have 1,000,000 miles, but 100,000. Typo?? If not, you're in an elite club (and probably have a sore rear-end -- that's a lot of miles since '02)!! Anyway, I concur with these guys... Tru-Cool or 6.0 cooler.
In the meantime, clean off the stock radiator and cooler assemblies as much as possible. Soapy water, brush and hose. May be a bit crudded up with those miles and cannot hurt. You might be surprised how bugged up they can get.
Mike is right about the cleaning of radiator and the stock cooler. I saw a thread about a month ago about an overheating problem and it was all caused by plugged fins in the radiator.

any chance you have been in florida when the love bug's were out, they will clog you up in a heart beat, there out in may & early october and last about a month,i've had motor home's come in here that you could not see the front end for the bug's,we run bug screen's in every thing down here.
I just did a trucool cooler that replaced my hayden cooler, and replaced the bypass valve and today i hit 180 in town AGAIN, when i was back on a decent straight away the temp went back to 160 ALOT faster than it used to but still. Without changing the pump, and TC im screwed.
The only other option for me runnin 37s on an aging pump and TC, is running a fan in addition to the cooler, completely draining and flushing the fluid, and runnin synthetic for the higher temps and maybe a TC lock, so pretty much ive got my work cut out for me in order to keep this thing alive.
I know its got to be about the hottest place on earth here in the summer which isnt helping a bit. Im going MAAAAAAAAD over this thing

We know all about the love bugs here in Houston. Man, I hate those freaking things. They can actually remove the paint from your vehicle along with clogging your radiator. I wish Florida would take them back.
