hey tj i just looked at your intercooler set-up pics, is that the whole banks set-up or did you weld those tubes up? it looks like it fits good
here is my engine pic, i'll have to take one of the coller tomarow
this is the best i've got on the comp right now of the front, you can see it through the grill and hanging below the bumper, the 6.0 cooler is a lot bigger than i thought once i started the install, thats as high up as i could get it and it still hangs down, and i had to do alot of re-organizing of the other coolers up ft and modify the grill brackets and the core support due to the width and thickness of it, well worth it i suppose to keep my egt's under control
Nice looking truck! I would be very intersted in some pics of the 6.0 cooler with the grill off. I am thinking about putting the 6.0 in mine. My setup is only the banks y-pipe (bought it cheaper than I could build my own) and the pipes I built. Just used 7.3 SD pipes. 2 drivers side and one passenger side and an extra 4" long piece. They fit really well. I still have to leak check them and paint them, then the project will be complete. I am also going to cut the driverside where the dent is that was put there for the SD to clear the PS pump and knock that dent out with the pipe bender.
I just used a 7.3 SD intercooler on mine, but used all the banks piping including the ram air intake that splits it off into the manifold, everything fit great and works really well. I'll try and post up some pics when I get home
thanks for the compliment, i got some new pics for you, i used the pre june of 99 y-pipe off the sd's its direct fit, all i had to do was lose the elbow for the wastegate line and install a plug, the pipe almost touches my fuel filter housing, the orange elbows and the inlet o-ring are direct fit, the other modifications need i took some shots of, the only other major one is the core support bracket was in the way, i cut her off even with the top of the cooler, i had to move the location of the ps cooler and the condenser lower mounts have to be modified some for clearance, but starting from scratch it only took 3\4 of a saturday to do and most of that was givin to the pipe fabrication, keeping it nice and neatly tucked in there, no rubbing issues
looks pretty good Joe. Youi did mount the cooler much lower than most. Did you cut and weld you pipes or bend them. they look pretty smooth in the pics.
thanks again, the pipes are all sd pipes, they are a mix of 6.0's and 7.3's depending on the bends i needed, its a nice smooth fit, alot of measureing before cutting then i connected them using the 7.3 black couplers and hooked to the cooler and y-pipe with the 6.0 blue's, no bending or welding, all staight no kinks. yeah i mounted it lower so it would clear my hood release, its so wide it wont go up higher the hood latch release is in the way so i lowered it down and figured it would get a bit more flow in its current location anyhow.
any other requests for pics tomarrow? i am doin a trans service and some other little stuff so fire away with the requests
yes I now have turbo lag after installing my IC. virtually none before but now I have some. Its annoying! The IC just makes a bigger area to pressurize
i have lag but not really, i guess another video is in store, i'll shoot for hot truck, idling and floor it.
but you can see in the 1st full throttle shift kit vid that by the time the tach hit 1500 or so i was up on boost, my lagtime is very little, i am pleased

So you did it without any cutting and welding? Nice! I'd really rather not have to do that..........though I've caged my XJ and built a rock buggy, so it's not like I can't do it. In the pics I only see one place where you had to join two pipes together, right next to the turbo outlet. Is that the only place? Was it easier to fit the pipes by mounting the cooler that low?
