'99 F350 "Conversion truck" ??
I am looking at a LATE 1999 F350 CC Dually XLT with 7.3 PSD:
The truck has a Conversion package on it, but I can't seem to find out what the manufacturer is, it has fiberglas running boards and a little wheel flair fiberglas, painted on paint graphics, plus fake woodgrain dash trim, ect, I can try & post a picture but I am not sure how, the truck has a faded stenciled on emblem on the tailgate that says "Conversion manufacturers assoc." but has no name of THE actual manufacturer.anyway.....nothing else real fancy inside the cab like TVs or lights, ect.
My friend in Texas says that folks pay big $$ NEW for these Conversion trucks, but no one really cares/wants to pay for the conversion package on the used market.
I'd like to somehow find out what "brand" the conversion is before I buy.
Truck has 69K miles, and "asking" price is $21,500
I like the truck alot, and want to buy it, but the price seems a bit steep.
Guys in an earlier post said I should expect to pay $19-20K for this truck, I am thinking $17-18K Thanks!!

Ford dealer around here used to bring us their trucks fresh off the transport. We would do about $1500 in aftermarket accessories (running boards, front and rear bumpers, dash kit, bug shield, window louvers, ect ) and then they would mark the truck up about 5K before seeling it as a custom conversion truck. The brands used vary from installer to installer but you best bet is to look under the running boards, the manufacturer usually stamps there name towards one of the ends.

I personally think its a lot of money..I got my clean 99 XLT super cab with electric every thing and leather seats..it had 145k miles on it..I got it for $15000 just a little over a year ago..and i could add the custom conversion my self for a lot less then 5k...sounds like you need to make the choice...
with that said..the ford power stroke is a good truck..I love mine and I wouldn't sell it for less then $25,000..not saying it is worth 25..I just love my truck and to me its worth 25...fallow your heart and gut instinct.. if you love that truck that much.. and if you can afford it..then I say but it..I find with my truck..the more I love it..the more I take care of it ..the more it loves me back..the more it takes care of me... good luck on your choice...

17 to 18k is a realistic price but the demand for a 7.3 drives the price up especially for one with low milage
FWIW I paid 27k for mine is XLT with fibreglass flairs and running boards 6 yrs ago with 10k miles but would have a hard time replacing it today for $20k with 120k miles

I don't think the value of a 7.3 truck will ever go down. It's still simple enough in design to be attractive to own.
Same with an old 12v Cummins Dodge. If it's not rusted out it will command top dollar in a sale.
For something really far out, check the prices for 20 year old VW Syncro Westfalia campers that are SELLING for $80,000.00 at www.gowesty.com.
They are fully rebuilt with a bored and stroked motor, rebuilt trans and front diff, pop top restored, etc. But they are still 20 years old and still selling for that price.
