4x4 Vans

Good Afternoon,

I am interested in finding/building a 4x4 Van, so I have a few questions that I hope someone out there can help me with:

1) Are there any companies out there that sell 4x4 conversion kits for E250 and E350 vans? I have seen Quigley but I would like to possibly buy the kit and do the work myself.

2) Other than Sportmobile, are there any other manufacturers of 4x4 conversions for the E250 and E350?

3) Has anyone ever heard of someone putting a manual transmission into a converted Ford van?

4) Has anyone ever taken it upon themselves to find the 4x4 components to swap into a Ford van and do the conversion themselves?

Thank you for your feedback,

Chris

Chris, for some info on a home mechanic's conversion of an E-350 15-passenger van to 4x4, check out Steve Best's Website. He goes fairly well into detail on how he did the conversion.

Isaac

3) Stick shift is a viable option. I've looked into it twice now.

Find a pedal assembly from a mid 1980's till 1989, they had hydraulic operation.

If you use a C6 automatic, I have an adapter that allows a transfer case to be bolted to the back of a 2wd C6 without tearing down.

I personally own a Quigley.

I desired a 4x4 van for quite some time. I was able to source parts at a salvage yard, they would not sell me the complete truck but I was able to source a complete Retired Federal express delivery van.As soon as purchased the parts I promptly stumbled across a 7.3 L quigley in my price range......ex haliburton truck from Alaska.
I don't need two. I want two but I just can't.
I am selling the project pile....

Now there's a name I am all too familiar with, Steve Best and I are old friends
from the Yahoo 4x4van website visited me in Baltimore once but it was a long time ago, probably 6 or 7 years.
I'll have to try him. I'm looking for an ARB type bumper for an 08 E350 Sportmoblie conversion.

Check out U-joint off road in N.C. They do full conversions or will ship you a diy kit that Includes custom leaf springs and uses a superduty front axle and transfer case.
