I installed the tru cool yesterday, replaced my hayden that was there, same placement as guzzles and the fittings in the down position. Im getting about 15 degrees cooler, dont know how impressed i am with that. I still see 175 in heavy traffic FL heat @ 93 degrees. Maybe i will run a fan inbetween the AC coil and the tru cool, and see if that helps. I know my 37s arent helping but does that seem high to you guys???
Did you think there is air trapped the top of the cooler making it less efficient, or did you purge the air out when you installed yours? Any input would help. Thx
Iv'e been planning on doing the tru-cool install, don't know how much I need it running right know at 150 degrees when its 80 plus degrees out, not towing. Talked to BTS and they said the cooler replacement with one off the 6.0 is better, but unless you find one on ebay there $350.00 to $400.00 a pop.

Seems a little high to me Benny, 96 degs here today and after a hour of stop and go traffic, my trans temp never got over 150 degs, The last time i pulled my TT (11,000 lbs) it was 90 degs and my max trans temp was 185 degs, I'm using a hayden trans cooler located in front of the radiator.
The 6L cooler is the one to use, they can be had for $250..and then you have one cooler still, no inline stuff, if its good enough for a 6L, it must be great for the 7.3...
I thought the bypass valve was only functional for cold temperatures? My tranny guy said that down here they run that hot often, he said the tires dont help at all, and to know more he would have to pull the pan and if i was going to do that i should put in a new pump and TC, which im not wanting to do. For $$$ reasons. Anyone know about air in the line?effects?
Benny, they can stick closed (or partially closed), so it's worth looking into. I don't see much over 150 with my stock cooler tooling around town. I've only seen 160-170 a couple times when "playing". And it's been 90-95 here in North Texas.
Where is this valve, somewhere on the outside of the tranny i hope, or at least serviceable from the outside???
It's an easy and quick change out, 15, maybe 20 min job. Not much fluid loss but have a few shop rags available to wipe up the small amount that will find its way to the floor.
