loping idle

Ok, just got her scanned and no codes! Yeehaw... So now I need to get the idle smoothed out. When you first fire it up, warm cold first start of the day or whatever, it lopes and jumps around really bad. Mechanic said it could be air in the fuel?? Does it for 15 seconds or so then settles to a nice smooth idle. Sounds about like tims truck in the video he has online. What could cause this? New ICP, cps, idm, uvc, vc, ipr o rings, cleaned fpr and bowl, filters, and new oil. any ideas? thanks guys

As far as I know I don't... it has the AO injectors. Which are just new AA's from what i'm told. But it sounds just like that. Idles bad for about 15 seconds then perfect.

uuummm well, you don't have a transmission range sensor on your 5sp, you've already done a bunch of other things. What oil are you using? Any different if you let the glow plugs warm up good. Whats the temps when your starting? is it only first start of the day? or any start?

It's on any start. It can be fully warmed up or cold, shut it off and start right back up and it does it. I'm using the mobile delvac i believe it is. It is about 85 degrees outside in the am when I leave for work down here so I don't think it is GP related.

just a few guesses here but try pulling the 10K mod. Do you still have the dual mass flywheel? Have you always used the Delvac?

Yeah, the DM flywheel is still on there... My Luk is supposed to be in tomorrow so I can throw it on. As far as the oil, I've only had the truck a few months, and most of it was down time so that's the only oil I have put in it. It sat for over a year before it was given to me. I'll pull the 10k out and see what happens. thanks

Un hooked the 10k mod... didn't change. I'm going to change the oil this weekend too when I do the clutch. Something other than the delvac I should try?

well if your interested in going synthetic I am Rotella 5W40 is a very good option. If conventional is more in your budget the go with Rotella 15W40. The 5w40 usually cures cold weather romps which is very similiar to issue you have.

I had a few things all adding up to the problem. The major issue was a burnt IPR harness. Fixed the wires and serviced the ipr and it has been good ever since. I also had a bad ground that was causing some idm low voltage problems at start up.

i prefer the mobil delvac to rotella, 20 cent price difference but i just like the delvac better, just my opinion. also i dont think tim's problem is in the splitshots, hard to say what it is without getting my hands on it but just running the splitshots shouldnt cause that issue

I guess my next step is to service the IPR. The problem was there before and after I installed my 17* pump with IPR installed so who knows. I guess I will know for sure about the injectors when I remove the splits and install single's again. BTW LukeCline also had a lope when he installed splits running on single programming FWIW.
