In the end, you will have 6 forward gears, one overdrive, one double overdrive. But you can split gears as well. In theory you would have a 10 speed. And 2 reverse if you can drive that fast in reverse! It takes the place of the carrier bearing if you truck is 2wd since the zf5's don't have a tail housing. It works off hydrolic pressure provided by the speed of the driveshaft. It's a 27% overdrive over whatever gear you are in when it's activated. They have a website gearvendors dot com you can read all about it. While it's not the strongest unit on the market, it is the smoothest and quietest unit and can be shifted on and off all day everyday. I love mine.
You bet. They are all actually the same unit with different adapters. If yours is 4x4, it will take the place of your output shaft housing on the back of the transfer case. But you can also install it between the trans and xfer case. It's very versital.
Is that what that's called? I have one of those too! My truck's throat gets cut at 95...
I am sorry Snow, I keep forgetting there are ladies in here too. I was just tryen to be funny and not offensive. Furthermore, I would never ever ever under any circumstances even attempt to drive 95 with an alarm like that.

No offense taken, Dawg! I thought it was hilarious! And as stated, I too have the same alarm system, so I tried 'top-speed' when he was at work!
Whhhat? I thought the truck top speed was around 90 max. Well mine was so scary to drive at 75 I guess I did not try very hard. I did go 85 but it seemed like it was winding out. Maybe I should take it out of low range 4x4? LOL
Old thread, but ill throw in how fast I was going according to a fellow FTE member with great math skills truck in my sig, topped out 139 mph more or less.
So they like old questions re asked ? or you not allowed to reply to threads older than what? I don't see any of that communist bull Sh^% listed in the rules.
