We have a 93 AWD XLT. Recently the cruise control stopped working. What is the most common cause of this? Can you suggest which things to check? We are hoping it could just be a sensor or something relatively simple, hoping not to have to get involved with pulling the steering wheel or anything like that ! Thanks..
Krankshaft is right! Clockspring seems to be Most Common Cause of failure of cruise in these great vehicles, and you do need to R&R Steering wheel & the SRS device.
You can check your fuses etc, & external connections et al, but it is usually a wishful waste of time IMHO. Especially if you get a code beep with key in Accessory position.
Then check my 2nd sentence "list", it's probably one of those that I dismissed as being a wishful waste of time.
Meanwhile I'll see if I can find that link to a schematic of the system here somewhere. Or maybe 96_4wdr will catch this & refresh my memory on that link. . . .
