Looking for economical replacement shocks for a '93 2WD. Anyone got any good recommendations? Just looking for decent ride and long life, not lifting/lowering or anything like that.
I second that suggestion, get you some Monroe shocks, put them on yourself, and you will be good to go for quite a while. Also, you will save a ton of money for a little work.
I agree with everyone.........running SensaTracs on mine now. Doing your own install can often save you a bunch but Monroe runs the "free Install" deal often. They also have a buy 3 get 1 free deal a lot.......I found that at Advance when I bought mine.
cool, I'll check 'em out. I have to admit after years of messing with VWs and Porsches I don't know what are good brands for American cars and what are not...
I just put Pro Comp ES9000 on my '95. My old ones were worn out, but these made a huge improvement on road and a bigger difference off road. They're a little bit more firm than a stock replacement.
I got mine at Summit Racing for $37 each, and I think the $30 rebate offer may still be good for buying 4.
just did it... my FLAPS had them in stock, a little pricey but still I could pick them up after work. Took me maybe an hour and a half to swap all four. That was easier than the little kraut burners I'm used to working on, I didn't even need a jack! One front shock was completely blown, that probably explains why it felt a little floaty. It still feels a little loose with the "bounce test" but then again I'm used to Porsches etc. with much stiffer suspensions, we will see when I get a chance to take it on the highway again.
WOW what a difference. you don't realize how bad something is until you fix it I guess 137K on the truck and the shocks looked like OEM... I put the Monroe Sensatracs on, I'd still prefer a little more damping but overall it is reasonable, but the thing that got me was MUCH less dive under braking, well worth the $$ and time.
