rear shock mounts

look'n at a 1979 ford f150 4x4 with inline 6. good truck for 750 bucks but the rear upper shock mounts are busted. How do I replace? looks like the originals where rivoted or welded. any suggestion?

rear shock mounts

First grind off the rivets and take out the old shock mounts. I had a machinist friend measure the holes and make me some new mounts. They are flat plate (1/2 I think) with a big bolt welded through them. He measured my shock eye and turned down the bolt to fit, then rethreaded. He also welded in 3 small triangle braces around the bolt. We bolted them on with grade 8 hardware and now I can use double eye shocks instead of a post/eye style. These are much easier to find if you lift your truck. The setup is used on a 79 1 ton mud truck and they've held up great.
