Hi all
My shocks are shot and am wondering what opionions are on shocks. Mine is everyday driver hardly go off road so am looking for shocks to smooth out road bumps, I live in Missouri voted the worst roads in the lower 48 so good shocks are a must.
Nothing fancy really, just something i could pick up at autozone.
Thanks
I've been running KYB's for years with good results. They are a high pressure gas shock with a lifetime guarantee. Pretty reasonable for the quality (around $45).
This is my first time in the forum. I put Rancho 5000's on my 1993 Bronco and the ride is harsh to say the least. It helped with the wandering sterring by stiffining everything up, but they rattle your teeth.

Mike,
Welcome to FTE! Lots of good info gets passed around! You might want to update/create your signature identifying your Bronco / Ford Vehicles like I do.
I agree, I noticed a night and day difference between the RS-5000's and my Monroe Sensa-Tracs! It was the best thing I did! You might want to consider swapping to them!
Cheap Gabriel or Monroe replacements, not Sensa-whatever, lifetime warranty, low cost and good highway ride. I had KYB on a Toyota and they rode way to stiff because of the high gas pressure.
Alot of folks use the Monroe Magnums, too. My 84 Bronco had them on it when I bought it, but all 6 were broken. They were less than 3 yrs old what PO said. Before putting on the lift, I had Pro Comp ES9000's for about a year. Decent shocks, not as tight as Ranchos are, and decent price. You can also get the ES3000's a bit cheaper. I now have Skyjacker Hydros and like'em with the 6" lift!!! The cheapo $20 Auto Zone ones won't last you a year.
I had Rancho 7000's put on my Bronco. and it was a mistake. Ride is too harsh for highway driving. Should have put on the Monroe sensa-ride, not sure of the exact name. They are less expensive. Can't afford to change out know, but these will be my last Rancho's. Rancho's I feel are task specific, and the type of driving I do, are just too stiff. A very good shock, but not for my usage.
My personal opinion is that one person may like a shock and the other abolutely hate it because it is a matter of opinion. Stiff shocks give a better feel for the road and handling, but give up in comfort. I have tried the sensa-tracs and I liked them most of the time, but when going around turns the front could get loose when you hit a bump because the shock would instantly loosen up. I like to have adjustability that I can control and set, depending on my mood. Any adjustable shock is what I would go with as long as you have the change$$ to spend on them.
