I'm new to the northern area, never had snow or salt on the roads where i'm from. I seen if your rims have clear on them the salt wont damage them, is this true?? How do I know if my rims are protected, the are moto metal 951's, black?? thanks for any info
well thats bad news... i guess i should invest in a wheel cleaner and clean them as often as possible in the winter then. is there any particular one anybody recomends??
Well the clear most certainly helps... but nothing is immune. I am not sure how Maine handles their roads, but MA uses WAY too many salts and various chemicals to treat the roads.
i found out the hard way about road salt. i bought a new set of 22" chrome wheels for my X. i wash them about 3 times a week, if not more. well, in 1 winter, the road salt had eaten through the chrome and pitted the hell out of the chrome.
moral of the story, before the first snow, take the nice shiney wheels off, and put the stockers on fot the winter. well, at least for me.
had to spend a ton of money and bought another new set of 22" chrome wheels. pics in my gallery of both sets of wheels.
