Fuel line question

'06 Ranger.
Question - where the fuel lines attach to the fuel filter, is it actual fuel line all the way to where it attaches to the filter ? Or is the last 6 inches or so some kind of plastic or hose ? I have about 6" of black line before it shows as actual metal fluel line.

There is a separate assembly that attaches to the fuel filter. You have to get a special tool to remove the filter.

Are you talking about fuel and A/C line Q.D. fittings? If so, you can get a set of cheapo plastic rings to remove them from AutoZone for about twelve bucks. You just close the ring over the line above the fitting, press the sharp bottom edge into it to where it wedges between the spring and the inside of the fitting, push it on good, and then simply pull apart. We had to get some to rebuild the A/C unit on my Ranger.
