intake manifold runner control
I TOOK MY 4.2 LITRE 1998 FORD F150 TO HAVE THE OBD CODE READ. IT CAME BACK P1537 & P1538,THEY ARE BOTH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL STUCK OPEN.
CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME AND HOW TO FIX IT?

intake manifold runner control
I haven't run into one on a truck yet but have seen several on ford cars. It is a small round vacuum motor looking device with a link to the runner. In all cases I have been able to manually move the link back to its closed position and have not had any come back with the lever stuck open again. Where it is on yours I don't know, I would know it when I found it. Front or rear of engine and under intake most likely.
