yesterday i changed out my filters, well who ever owned it before me stripped out the 6mm hex screw and it wont come out. When i say stripped, the hole is rounded out and the 6mm wont work anymore.
What is that for? To drain the filter housing before you take the cap off?
Pull the water drain plug first. It will keep you from getting as bad a bath from fuel as you'll get without pulling it. You need to drain it every time you change your filter anyway or perhaps more often if the water light comes on. Some people do it at every oil change.
yea i had the same problem...mine was sooooo tight and sort of stripped out...thankfully it wasn't totally stripped and i finally got it....now i need to ordered a new one...
I wouldn't ever buy fuel filters from ford. My international dealer is 45min away so when I go I just have to stock up. I haven't priced the drain plug from ford but it is an option.
Others here have had the stripped hex problem too. I believe that most people have been able to get the plug out by putting te hex wrench in the hole and using JB weld to attach it to the plug. Let the JB weld set and then unscrew it and replace with the new IH plug. With the new plug you just tighten it by hand (and with the o-ring on there you don't have to get it all that tight). No real need to use the hex wrench anymore.

15.25$ they dont have it in stock but they can order it.
id still drive the 15 miles to my International dealer to save the 3 bucks only because i hate my ford dealer
Superdudey, sounds like you feel the same way about your ford dealer as I do. I won't deal with the ford dealer I have in town. I drive 30 minutes to another one if I have to take the truck in for something. Thanks for the price check.
