I have a '96 Ford Explorer with a high mount brake light that no longer works. I have replaced the ballast before and the brake light worked fine. It went out again about a month ago and I have tried three ballasts from local wrecking yards with no success. I ended up at the local Ford dealer's parts department and told them what was going on. They said that it is very likely the LED light strip has finally worn out.
I have seen these light strips for sale on eBay and would like to try and replace it myself, but I'm not really sure how it is removed. Is it fairly easy to do, or are we talking about a pain in the butt kind of job?
Any directions from you guys would great.
