Two 04 PSD Questions...
Question 1 - Has anyone used the Amsoil Diesel additives? The "Diesel Concentrate" or the "Cetane Boost Additive"???? A god friend of mine is an Amsoil dealer and told me about the stuff, but I would like some opinions on it before I have him order a case of either one.
Question 2 - Same guy tells me that I can run Amsoil in the crankcase and go for 20-25K miles between changes, but I have to change the filter every 5k and top the crank case off with a quart. The concept sounds good, since the local dealer charges about $85 for the oil change. If I go the Amsoil route, it'll cost around $125, but the overall savings makes me very interested. So, the question is...Is this guy giving me the straight skinny on Amsoil change intervals, and if so, what type of Amsoil should I be running?
Thanks for answering...

do not do 25k oil intervals. no way no how. you will have nothing but problems if you do, i dont care what you run. where did he get his info from? is amsoil saying this? not trying to flame you jim, but that is as wild as snake oil.
and about the additives, i have no clue but there are plenty of other additives. diesel kleen and standyne are the top 2 i would say.
Here is a link to a recent thread on fuel additives

Diesel Kleen (Power Service) and Stanadyne are the most popular.
There are many other threads on this as well.
As for oil changes and the 6.0, change the oil every 5K no matter what Amsoil tells you. The 6.0 is very hard on oil and shears all of it down in a very short time. The injectors are fired by unfiltered engine oil and need clean oil of the proper viscosity to work properly.
There are numerous posts on engine oil and the 6.0, use any CI-4+ or CJ-4 API rated oil and OEM Racor filters and change every 5K miles.
Use the search function as there are litterally hundreds of posts on this very topic.
Good luck
