Amsoil and AR9100?

Amsoil and AR9100?
Hey, guys. I've been through the search without finding a good answer so here goes. Just about to put synthetic oil in my '04 6.0 for the first time, at least for me. I got it with 112k. It does have an Amsoil dual bypass system, though, so my thinking is that the first and only other owner ran it before. I've been running Moto 15w40 at 3k intervals. I think I have a slight injector issue on cold starts and my plan is to go syn and add AR9100 after listening to all the good reports on it. But I noticed Amsoil says in heavy print NOT to add any additives to their oil. What do you think, I'm sure one of you out there has mixed the two?
On another note, how does Amsoil compare to Royal Purple? Thanks in advance for the usual great advice....Ed in NC.
