Yea about that sipping...
Anyway, my tires are at 65LBS, I'll try 55LBs this weekend while towing my 3500LBS open car trailer.

Running 55LBs (F) and 50LBs (R) and towing my race car sucks bad. It needs softer springs all around.
Does anyone know what rate the springs are stock?

sipes are the little "slits" in the large tread lugs, most tires come with it, almost all car tires do, larger truck tires may or may not depending on the brand but most do at this day and age.
our trucks ride much nicer with a load on them, if you dont mind lifting it get a lift kit with progressive rate springs, skyjacker's are excellent, i have a 6 inch on my truck and the ride is excellent over stock, they allow the truck to have a soft ride for driving but if i load it down with a trailer, it drops maybe 2 inches at most and then tows like a stocker, no sway, excellent stability, i hauled a full bed of sand and it sagged down till the rear sat level with the front, i am guessing 2k pounds in the bed? she was definatly full, no more would physicaly fit. the truck rides great, if you dont like a 6 inch they make 4's just make sure that you order with a total spring kit and not blocks otherwise it defeats the purpose.(uses your stock springs)

It is just a bunch of slits cut about a 1/4" deep in the treads of your tires. Gives your treads more gripping edges. Great for winter time driving.

45LBs in the front?

And about that siping. If tires were meant to be siped, they would be siped from the people that make the tires. Siping does nothing but make profit for tire places.

You couldn't be more wrong in that statement. The tire Mfg. companies dont sipe from the factory cause it can promote faster tire wear and the tire treads are more prone to loosing small chunks of tread between sipped areas. It works great in any low traction situation. More gripping surfaces equals greater traction.

lol gotcha steve.
yup siping can possibly cause chunks to rip off in truck apps based on the fact that they are larger lugs typicly and would allow more tread flex in heavy duty situations, plus it costs a few pennys more to do! but for passenger tires it has no effect on the tires either way hence the reason almost all passenger tires have it done to them. my opinion, if you have mud tires and go off-roading alot then no it aint worth it but if you are a hauler with standard tread then yeah go for it

Ok i got it, but what the siping or siped has to do with the better ride? you have to sip the tires or buy one with sips o withou it?

sorry for my doubts.

i have never seen a "better" ride from siped tires, the only gain is that you have a much better grip in the rain because the tread can seperate, too a point, allowing the water to go in the tread and put the rubber on the ground in stead of on a layer of water. the same applies to dry pavement braking and accell, the tread can flex to put more rubber flat on the ground and basicly increase your tread footprint for the same size tire without sipes, giving you better accell and braking, but its all ina smaller term you cant turn a car into a pro stocker just by gettin a good siped tire, but there is a difference

Independent testing shows siped tires shortening stopping distances in ice and snow and lengthen stopping distances in the dry and wet.
Consumer Reports was the last test that I know of but all the real tests I have ever read say the same thing.
