Well i never really posted much here but i thought i would share my problems i had with my o4 lariat crew cab. when i bought it i was in love with it as it had the 6.0 diesel. then i fell out of love at 35k when i needed a new egr valve.but before that i had misc problems like a leaky transmission and other non running items like a stuck door handle and screwy backup sensors. but to go back to the problem. I replaced the egr valve under warranty the first time. the dealer asked if i had used any additives and i told him about every other tank full, dealer says use it every tank full and you should'nt have a problem well 14k later i'm left stranded.now stranded out of town 2x and i had to pay out of pocket for another egr valve. well 1k later driving up in the woods with the so called updated egr.it starts to puke out on me i limped it back but have decided that 3 times a charm. I was told this will be the last truck you will ever need to own. they were wrong.
as soon as i got back into town from my so called vacation i drove the pos right into Toyota and yes i know i will get bashed for it but i owned 2 before the ford.a tacoma and a tundra so now i bought a new tundra the 07 model.
I guess my point is to say that ford really doesn't have it together when it comes to the diesel motors at least not the new ones. I know that what i bought won't tow huge amounts of weight but hey all it has to do is get me from point a to point b withought getting me stuck.
nothing like being on the way to hurricane ridge half way up with nothing in sight for miles and no cell service. just loved that one. so now i'm a very happy owner of a new tundra limited and with 0% for 60 months I took a little hit on trading it in but hey not like the one i would have taken when the turbo or something else puked out on it.
this is just my experience i know other have had great luck with the ones they bought but hey I gave Ford a try and now i know i won't be buying another one.
Pointless post. Thanks for sharing. Are you happy now?
Maybe your problem was the service department. That many problems with an EGR seems to make me think the problem was somewhere else and the root problem was never properly diagnosed. But it's a moot point at this juncture.
I've owned several Toyotas and can say they're nice but not without their problems as well. The difference is often in the level of service received after the sale.
I can only pray that I don't have the same series of events you do. I am at 28k with an 07 and I am hoping that Ford has ironed out any issues with the 6.0 on the last production year.
Sucks about the luck, every now and then, life throws you a lemon. I've owned a mess load of Ford Trucks, with out the probs you've had. Enjoy the Toy, hope to see you in the future, if not, maybe Ford will take the hint about the problem.
Ok many know me on here and know I am not a big fan of the 6.0 but on this I call BS. first the op states a total of 50k miles on a 5yr 100k warranty so why are you paying out of pocket, and even if the dealership trys to claim the egr is not engine related and under that warrenty it's still under the 100,000 mile emissions warranty required by federal law. So the little issue of out of pocket is pure BS. And when part of a story is BS there is a good chance the rest is too thus I wonder if he even ever owned a PSD.
Well i found your first mistake stay away from the 03 and 04 6.0L 2005 and up are a bit better never buy a first year redesign of anything pretty much always quirks to work out so buy later years i learned that anyways to bad your done with SD's

I ment to say i had to pay out of pocket to get my truck and trailer a 29rk denali back into town. so excuse me for screwing that up. ever had to have a trailer towed?? not cheap.
I can send anyone who wants one a picture of my truck with the trailer if you don't think this is real Iwas just letting everyone know my experience with my truck. and hey if you don't think that i had one i will even send a picture of my fnnn insurance card form usaa would that convince you?? if i never had one then how would i know the price of my EGR valve in Astoria OR was 382.00 if i wanted to stick one in the glove box that is what it would of cost me. also my truck had almost 48k on it I drove the hell out of both my toyotas and never had problems like this.
so think what you want. I used to talk up my truck all the time it just got a little hard to do when your sitting on the side of the road. I had ever option i could get on it including the sunroof and two tone paint dessert sand with black bottom half. I put a levelling kit on it linexed it. all kinds of stuff and it was a big waste!
so it comes down to we all have our opinions mine is no longer with the Ford.

Well I thought i was trying to be somewhat diplomatic about my post but there always seems to be people that think i was attacking everybody. reread my post i said i was glad that others were not having problems. does that sound like i was dissing all ford owners?? NO I was merely stating the problems I had and why i gave up on the Ford. you guys can say what you want about Toyota it meens nothing to me. my first year tundra back in 2000 never had a problem my 96 tacoma never had a problem so i'm not going to sit here and get in a purse fight over whos truck is better i'm just stating that what i had happen with my Ford and what has not happend with my other trucks. and as far as who made the motor i don't care ford stuck it in there not toyota and what about door handles sticking and back up sensor going out, door hinge loose i guess that was all toyota or internationals fault also.
glad i'm not a Ford Truck guy anymore if this is how you guys act. to the others who were not as rude. thanks and sorry mine didn't work out. and glad yours has.
the END.

Good luck with your Toyota...they're a whole 'nother bucket of bolts...
your bitching about a ford truck to ford guys then jumping ship or returning ship w/e. it sounds like you just let the dealer walk over you since you let him tell you it was the same part 3 times in a row.
