If he is truly running anywhere around hurricane ridge (actually have my doubts on that too, yes i used to hunt that area and used to watch a couplle people a year get lost up there and know they put up a couple cell towers in the past 10 yrs just because of those people getting lost) then a toyota pulling anything bigger than a bicycle trailer is gonna have problems
well last i hearsd since it's a national park there hasn;t been hunting there so???
and i know that are well been going up there since i was a kid.
do you need a picture of hurricane ridge from just last week??
when my truck was pucking out my wife was watching the cell phone for any type of reception and there was none even at the visitoors center ther was none. and it seems that all you can do is bad mouth other to provoke a response i think they call that a troll??
next time you go hunting in a national forest let me know how that works for you. i will get a big chuckle when they take your truck. and yes they are doing that.
So happy I own a OBS PSD. Were if the handle breaks..I can fix it. We ford owners are a vicious bunch huh? Like some damn wolves! Eating those that 'go astray'
Sat. phone might be the way to go then, I would get it if I was traveling in that kind of country, sure it will still have it's trouble spots, but you would still get some reception out in there unless you were in a hollow then you might not. Having seen that, I wish you luck in pulling that nice big trailer with a v-8 half-ton. Having seen a pic of the country y'all are talking about a gas v-8 would struggle, you should have gone with the v-10(should have done that in the first place for two reasons A. six times a year really doesn't warrant a diesel and B. the diesel was still relatively new). I'm willing to bet that the toyota v-8 has 3.73 gears on it and it's going to have a rough time with it unless you don't mind going a lot slower then the rest of traffic. But the best of luck to you in that endeavor.
4.33 gears 6 speen tranny with tow haul. the tranny has a stick style with a option of putting it in to useable open 6 so you can down shift on the way up on the fly or up shift quicker then witing for the tranny to get into the right band. anyway like i said hope you all have a great 4th and good luck with your trucks i really do hope they work out for you. it just didn't for me.
I'm no longer going to reply so bad mouth me all you want. I'm taking this site off of my favorites and if i can figure out how to unsubscribe i will.
like i have said in no way am i saying that this will be the great end all truck and that it will do everything.
the road is twisty with a low speed limit and poor vis. so no one goes flying up it. I really did want a v10 before i bought the diesel but had been told the diesel was the only way to go. this is a primary driver and the mpg on the v10 was not so great.

toyota and truck should not be used in same phrase
I RESENT that statement.
I owned my 1998 std cab Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and it was the toughest little pickup ever. I kept it stock for over two years and was able to going 4wheeling and got through more obstacles than most stock Jeeps and Rangers and S-10's
I am not saying I didn't buy my F-350 Powerstroke, but that is not an equal comparison. Toyota could and is beating FORD and CHEVY when it comes to the small size Tacoma and 1/2 ton Tundra. They made a decision not to compete with the big three when it comes to the diesel market, but in every other country, they offer a turbodiesel in their trucks.
You Wouldn't Mind Posting your VIN so i could look at the warranty claims would you? I realy want to see what the tech and advisor had to say about your truck. Thanks, and good luck with your Toy.
to redford ever go to the gun shows at the fairgrounds?? in monroe you might have met me if you did I have had tables up there off and on for 10 plus years..
Yes, I did. We probably crossed paths.
I lved just north of the fairgrounds, over the ridge, just off of Chain Lake Rd. Could hear the cars racing at the track on Friday and Saturday nights.
The 6.0L Power Stroke was NAVISTAR'S (INTERNATIONAL'S) problem child, not Ford's.
What a major jump, going from a Super Duty to a 'Toy'. The Asian market (non-Domestic) Toyota Tacoma/Tundra, Nissan Frontier/Titan, Mitsubishi Raider, Honda Ridgeline, & so on "trucks" are for people who do not really need a truck. If you were unhappy with a diesel, why not get the gas? Because you wanted a cute little foreign "truck".

The Tundra is not an asian market truck. It is built in Princeton, Indiana for the North American market.
Toyota is #3 in US sales and climbing. The Tundra will probably surpass the F-150 as the #1 truck (in sales) in the next five years unless Ford scores real big with the new F-150.
You may not think the Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans are real trucks, but you're going to be in the minority very soon.
