Does anybody know if there is a difference between the two? I want to weld them on, but can only find clamp on ones. I know that bolt ons are the ones with the bolts built into them, so those are a no go.
get the clamp on ones, get access to a cutting torch and a grinder, and cut the excess off "what you dont need" and grind it down to your likings and weld them bad boys on, thats what i did, "read sig"
Yeah well not much difference mine were welded on cause the muffler guy did it i wish they stuck out so thing is with weld its a bugger to change i guess it kind of loooks good too instead of a bolt or clamp
I like solid,so I tend to weld things. No muss, No fuss, but if you like to change things up once in a while, new chrome, new style, sound etc. Go clamps,bolts,whatever...when you find what you REALLY LIKE! then go welder!!
Most exhaust tips that clamp on are lower quality than one that are intended to be welded. This varies of coarse, since there are so many manufacturers. Myself, I prefer welded on units, since the last thing I want to do is loose one.
I avoid chrome tips, since they corrode easily (chrome is slightly porous) if exposed to road salt. Stainless steel is better for this purpose, and quality manufacturers also makes stainless steel tips that are chrome plated to prevent the discoloration common with stainless steel.
I am going with stainless for sure seeing that I live up in salt country. The tips don't seem to be cheap (they are actually reall expensive). The site lists them as clamp on, but you have to buy the clamp seperatly. Once I get them I'll keep them, no changing. I just like the clean smooth look of welded on vs. clamps.
