Thanks everyone. You have given me alot of info. I like the turbo sound but I guess I am not the die hard (yet) that some of you are. I think I will leave it for now. But will probably be making noise with the rest of you before to long.

Check out my post #24 here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/592083-hot-side-i-c-tube-insulation-2.html?highlight=banks+power+pack and study the pic of the Banks power pack for an early 99, and you'll see why that foil is really there! If you wish to choose sound (but I've driven w and w/o foil and can't tell any difference) fine, but at least you'll be making an informed decision!

Thanx Izzy...but what do you mean by "open element". I thought my S&B filter is an "open element" filter. Or, do you mean that I have killed the whistle by sealing the natural "leaks" in the box (trying to only draw "cool" air in thru the fender) and sealing the box to the fender opening?

BTW, I removed the box cover for a day or two looking for (well, I guess I was listening for) increased whistle. Didn't work either. I get more whistle from my 4" exhaust, until the exhaust flutter starts to take over.

This is an "Open Element" filter (the 6637 to be exact):

BTW cros, how do you like the Edge A2? Do you have the GPS & backup cam options? I saw it in a buddy's CTD and thought it was pretty cool.

The only thing I don't like about it is I would want my GPS on there full time, which means you lose the "gauges". Also, I'm going to assume that it gets boost numbers from the PCM, so if you have a serious tune (like DP), you have to run an overboost fooler of some kind to make the PCM only see up to 22 or 23 psi so it won't start defueling the engine. That means you won't see real boost numbers when they're above that, which of course is when you need it most.

Honestly, my relationship with the A2 (her name is Jane) has been a love-hate relationship. I actually really like having all the numbers I really want, in one location. I also wanted a GPS system, but I wasn't too keen on spending mucho dinero for both, then having such a cluttered-up dash area. I prefer to keep things clean and neat. So when a great opportunity to save some $$$'s on the A2 presented itself, I bit.

Anyway, I really like having the different settings...and while I enjoy the additional performance (Edge Juice stacked on Dino Sources chip), I'm really looking for increased economy and longevity...along with increased performance...which is why I wanted the gauges. However, at times the GPS has frozen up, wanted me to go down a one-way frontage roads, the wrong way etc. I sent the A2 (Jane) back to Edge once for updates (I said I sent her in to have her "enhanced"), but I've yet to add the back-up camera...although my children will readily tell you that I need a back up camera. Now they just go "beep-beep-beep" anytime I put Big Red in reverse. Oh well. If you can't see and hear a pick up this big and red coming at you...then I guess you have bigger problems (small black car that was too small to see in any of the 3 mirrors with girl on cell phone in dark covered parking and not paying enough attention to notice giant red truck with brake lights and reverse lights inching closer...so she kept driving forward ). Of course that doesn't help the two poles (100ft signs) and tree that have fallen victim to my backing in the dark.

My daughter's hate her (Jane - english girl voice), which only increases my enjoyment. Jane will be taking us to DFW to pick up my son this weekend, then to the Dallas zoo, then back to the Braum's Ice Cream store in Hillsboro, before returning to Austin then San Antonio. Yes, there are things I truly like about Jane.
