Guys, I talked to one of the other guys here once about excursions and how fast they could be 0-60. Does anyone know how fast a Diesel for instance could be 0-60 and does anyone have any links and info or pictures?
Also, how much would it cost to get that kind of speed and what's the reasonable max HP you could get out of a Diesel?
With reasonable I mean, NOT doing upgrades that won't improve the power much.
There are guys running 11-12 in the QM. Not sure what that computes for 0-60. It may not be the best comparison since still takes a bit to get on boost. Most of those trucks run propane injection and are VERY, VERY custom.
Anything over 500HP is gonna require lots of other mods. A tuner set to MAX HP/TRQ is gonna require at a minimum a new downpipe, cat-back, gauges....'bout $800-$1000 plus the tuner.
After paying $5-6K for the PSD you still gotta sink loads of dough in it to get the HP that you could from slapping a $5K supercharger on your V10. You just won't get the MPG from your SC'dV10 that a hopped up PSD will get you. But would it really matter at that point?
Supercharger on the V10? What does that translate to in numbers as in HP, speed. times and so on and if you don't go crazy most of the time, will it cut down a lot on engine life?
So, up to 500HP in diesel is a couple of grand? Not bad but that won't get me some low stoplight to stoplight speed will it?
Like hybrids said, it would be cool to go to meets and race kids with small cars
George, that would be fun to do with diesel. If the person was retarded and didnt know about diesel times, you could bet some good $$$. George, if you go to youtube and type in F-350, there is a 350 that runs 11's. There are also some fast Excursions on there.

Superchargers add around 50% more power. You'd be looking at 465HP/625+lb. ft. / speed still depends o nthe computer / Qm times and the like see a huge drop. Depends on the truck's actual weight. A 3-4 second drop in 0-60 is not uncommon. Engine life can remain basically the same. The bottom end of the V10 is very, very strong.

No. 500HP in a diesel costs you $6K for the diesel and $2K in hop up parts.
"No. 500HP in a diesel costs you $6K for the diesel and $2K in hop up parts."
That sounds like the biased opinion of a gas owner. Some bought the diesel for their own good reasons ... including me. The price of hop up was not a factor. So my my own biased opinion would be that I can have that extra power for 2K or less .... and still have my diesel.
45 Auto, are you saying that you don't need the 6+2 grand upgrades for that kind of power in diesel?
Monsta, IF I have a diesel truck I need to add the money you said to get that kind of power?
How much is a supercharger going to cost (just rough idea), how much do you think someone will charge for installation and you said I still needed a computer? How much for the puter?
IF I drive normally with this V10 setup, what kind of mileage will I get, the same as now?
Also, I couldn't find anything on any excursions racing. Just trucks so if anyone has any links please post.
Monster, what kind of Qm times do you think you would see with a v-10 supercharged ex? Do you think that if you added gears that you would see a diff in Qm times also?
Monsta, IF I have a diesel truck I need to add the money you said to get that kind of power?
With a 7.3L, it'll cost a lot more than a couple grand to produce 500hp...a lot more.
Minimum you'll need:
Turbo upgrade
Injectors
Fuel system upgrade
Exhaust
Intake
Tuner
And that doesn't take into account some supporting mods you'll probably want/have to get, like head studs, upgraded transmission, big oil (depending on which sticks you choose to use), etc.
