hello all. i'm new to the site and like what i've seen so far. i was wondering if any one that has an 01 ranger has changed the headlights to some thing better. i'm looking for some thing very very bright and has that white/blue color to it. anything would be good. thanks.
Piaa makes blue tinted bulbs, as well as hella. The most popular has been the Sylvania silverstar bulbs.I put silverstar ultras in my F-250 and they worked pretty well. They aren't actually brighter, the color of light is just whiter...
In my opinion, the only way I would get xenon HID lighting is if it was installed factory. Just adding the bulbs still relies on your stock lens projection pattern. True HID systems have auto level headlamp systems and are designed precisely for even light output. Yes, xenon bulbs and ballasts will look brighter than stock, but they have unecessary glare and do not self adjust making it a pain for other drivers. You also lose Hi beam functionality, unless you get a bi xenon capsules, which aren't the most reliable.... Just my .02
^^^ exactly. An HID conversion in most halogen headlight setups is a waste. No they don't cost $700 anymore, but all the glare and lack of a good light pattern is not worth it.
If you want crisp clear light, the european sylvania silerstar (clear glass, non tinted) bulbs are the way to go. Narva Rangepower bulbs are good too....
