went for my first ride in the 53 today . man what a gas !!!!! to say i loved it would be an understatement . i still dont have the gas tank back as it was in pretty rough shape , but cobbled together a redneck tank { a gas can with a long peice of rubber hose in it } to scoot around the block . oh and yes it's legal . earlier this week i was havin' all sorts of problems but we got her back together and she runs sweet !!! makes a lovely noise through the duals !!! i didn't think as this is my first flatty , that she was gonna be as energetic as she is or pull like it does , especially after such a long hibernation . pleasantly suprised i must say .the fuel pump took a crap on me and somehow the pump driveshaft got bent , but no biggie as i was planning on putting an electric pump on her . their is no floor in the bed , a few antifreeze leaks , and miscellaneous wiring issues to take care of but it'll be on the road pretty damdn soon ! oh yeah and i have to replace the left cab mount and patch sa little peice of the floor right above it that was cleverly hidden by some creative jb weld work . got a pic of me and the son in law in it i'll get it up as soon as i can .have fun all and be safe this weekend!!!!!!!!!
That first cobbled up ride is the most memorable and fun one...
Nice to hear it was a success.
I`m looking forward to my first ride in the 53 but it will be a while yet.
i got the pictures that my wife took yesterday of the maiden voyage posted in the gallery called daily driver . she smoked just a bit at first but no longer does , and she aint perfect by no means . don't really care as im gonna get 100% driveable and run her wheels off while i'm finishing the 55 . oh and the ugly 8 spokes will be gone as soon as i snipe the steelies off the 55 and paint 'em and get trim rings and 'moons .
Congrats on the first voyage. I remember mine since it was only a month or so ago. Enjoy it. Many people will get a kick out of it as well watching it go down the road!
Yes the smiles and the thumbs up make it all worth while. I've had people walk of the curb and into parking meters looking at my Uni go by. It's so cool.
