Loss Of Power

Anyone have any ideas...

I recently bought a 2000 F-250 7.3L TD 4x4 120k w/ Edge PCM. Most of the time [not always], within 5-15 minutes after start, the engine will 'cut-out' for about a half-second then be fine [after severely bucking]. This usually happens at higher RPMs [around 2000] and usually happens a few times in a row[a bit of a time delay between ea.] This has been happening for a few months. No codes are thrown except when the engine severely knocks, but it is reset at power-down.

Already changed the Fuel filter, and there is no water in tank.

Any thoughts... Anyone have a similar problem?

Welcome to FTE.
First thing I would make sure of is to remove the valve covers and verify that the wiring harness for the injectors is completly plugged in.
They have a tendancy to work thier way loose and then you get driveability issues like you describe.

When it does its "cut out" does the tach drop like your turned the key off? That could be a CPS failing, a 15 buck part at www.powerstrokeshop.com search part number F7TZ-12K073-B and look here http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/cps.html to replace it.

Could you explain in alittle more detail about your codes? Or are you saying your Service Engine Soon light resets at power-down? Are you using a scan reader for the 7.3L ? Not all scanners will work properly.. Any fault codes you get will remain until you reset them with a scanner..

It is the "Service Engine Soon" light that resets at power-down. I used a Actron Autoscanner Plus to check the codes. Which scanners do you recommend, or what about scanning software for a laptop?

Ordered the CPS

It happens so quick that i havn't looked at the tach yet. Going to find out.

Where could I order a Factory Service Manual.

-Thanks for the ideas...
