I have searched the forums and it says that there is a circuit board under the passenger kick panel and I went to look under there but I have no idea what I am looking for or even what it looks like could someone give me some advice on this topic. The problem is when I push the 4hi nothing happens the little light doesn't come on, no little sounds nothing, it's like I never even pushed it at all. But what was kind of wierd about the whole thing was the fact that I have the shift on the fly but manual lockers?!?! Does that makes sense to anyone either? Any input on the topic is better than none, I am just kind of lost at the moment.
The auto locking hubs have nothing to do with the electronic 4x4 shifting. The auto locking hubs are mechanical and lock when the front axle shafts start to spin, regardless of whether or not you pushed the button on the dash.
I haven't specifically looked for the 4x4 module, but I know its behind the passenger kick panel and I remember one of the other members saying it has a red light on it...
It's probably your transfer case shift motor. Crawl under the truck and look at the transfer case. You'll see a motor attached to it. That's what the most common cause of failure is there.
My switch recently stopped working also. I just had the rearend replaced and the hubs were loose on the front so the shop tightend them up and now the switch doesnt light up and no click from the kick panel anymore. I have taken the actuator motor on the transfer case apart and cleaned it so it works but the motor never stopped the switch from working before.
The switch goes bad but not as often as the motor. I replaced the motor and I know my computer is good but if u don't press the switch just right I get nothing as well
i just had this problem today, i went under and took the motor off cleaned all the brushes and contact points put it back togather and she works like a dream....just take it apart and clean it
i also have manual hubs and auto transfercase....
