My 84 has stock steel wheels with a new set of 30X9.50R15 tires. I am going to go old school with chrome wheels and dog pans...I think the stockers are 6 in. wide..Can I go to an 8 in. wide wheel with no problem ?....or how wide ???...Thanks...Jv
OFFSET...??...Whatever the stock Ford truck wheel came with...I am going to order a set of chrome wheels with factory offset...and perhaps a bit wider...j
The extra width on mine is toward the outside. That's where you want it if you are going to run wider tires. I ran 31-10.50's on the stock rims, and when I turned a sharp turn in the parking lot, they would rub the radius arms. The chrome wheels don't do this with the same tire, since they set the tire out a little bit more.
Dave...Thats what I thought..Thanks again. I like the chrome wheels with dogpans. Had a black 66 in 1976 that had them..My red/silver 84 should look as good..........j
Getting ready to order the Wheel Vintiques chrome wheels for my 84 F-150 2WD..My wheels have 3 1/2 inches backspace...Their standard Ford 15X8 that takes 10 1/8" Ford dog pans has a 4 inch backspace...Does anyone think this 1/2" will be a problem ?...Everything else the same...5 on 5 1/2..15X8...Thanks..j

Stick your head under there and see if you have more than a 1/2" clearance from the rim and tire to the inner workings of the truck. Also turn the wheel full left and right and look under to see if you still have over 1/2" clearance.
