Hey guys, I was just wondering what your gauge runs at when you have the AC on and any other accessories. I have a tranny cooler fan and when I run the AC and stuff it doesn't seem like my alt charges as much as it used to, usually hangs around the lower part or "normal" around the N or O, but when everything is off it doesn't go up much, just wondering where everyone's gauge is running.
The factory guage is junk. It hardly works so as long as your battery light isn't on it probably ok. running a cooler fan and the A/C is a pretty big load so it will probably hang low for that. but as long as your battery light isn't on your probably ok.
If you have a volt meter take a reading at one of the batteries. At idle, with everything on you should have more than 12.5 volts. It should increase to 13.2 or higher with the engine revved to 2K RPM. The gage in the dash is not accurate.
mine runs around the "r" sometimes close to the "m". mine used to do that and it was batteries then the cable that charges the batteries was melted where it attached to the alternator like a week after i got new batteries.
