I did a Google for "ford crank snout support" and the fourth article was:
http://www.blueovalnews.com/index.ph..._articleid=237
It talks about the GT500 Mustang, written in April 2006, and shows a VERY nice picture of a 4.6L with a snout support.
And if you google "ford modular crank snout support" you'll find much much more...
If you're not going crazy, it's really not necessary, but when you start pushing the revs AND the power AND the boost, well, you get the idea.

FWIW, this thread perked my intrest, and since I just lost the engine in my race car a few weeks back, I wanted to run something, so figured, why not my work truck LOL!!!
I did'nt have my weather station with me, and did'nt bother to ask what DA was, but we were in a heat index over 100* when you factor in high humidity...typically in the past days like this were in the high high 3800-4400'DA so air was crap.
Truck is a '00 F350 4x4 ext cab long box, automatic, 84K on the ticker, no mods what so ever. Dropped the stock rear tires to 20 psi based on other trucks (stock I've run for fun), did a rolling burnout, bumped into the beams, stood on the brakes, matted the loud pedal and best time was a 18.000 @ 78.?? mph, I did'nt pay much attention since it was so slow.
Went 2 rounds, ended up giving the finish line back to a gal I had beat so she took the stripe by .02 instead of me...oh well. Least now I know my truck is offically a slow POS LOL!!

I have not towed with them, but I have not had any problems with them. If I was to buy fans now, I would purchase them from
http://www.madenterprise.com/F150.htm
I bought his fan controller kit for my fans and I think the kit prevented any problems that I heard other guys were having with their fans. Also, he knows a lot about our trucks and you can always call him if you have a problem with anything.
