A steering damper will not fix an alignment issue. Intervention is required to change alignment specs. (IE. hitting something, something worn/broke, or something slipping). Is the steering wheel off center? A poor alignment will cause a pull or tire wear, not shaking. Shaking is a run-out, or balance issue. Badly worn or cupped tires could cause that too, and a bad alignment or bad shocks could cause a tire problem, but probably not in a few weeks. If your alignment is "moving" I think the tie rod sleeves or something may be slipping (guess), and if your mechanic is telling you to install a damper, it may be time for another mechanic.
lol well i never said anything about a steering dampner to fix my problem and my steering wheel is off about 30-40 degrees because it doesnt line up right with the new steering box
can i get it aligned with the crappy tires on it now or should i wait til i buy new tires
I had to re-align my truck after I replaced the tires on it (same brand tire and same size as previous tires that were on it). I had already aligned it before that with the old tires when I redid the whole front end on it. I put it back up on the rack and did my alignment again. I would get new tires and have it aligned. If you get it aligned with those chewed up tires you'll just have to get it aligned again when you get new tires. That's my .02 cent about it. . .
